Two hours or more!

Early Years Volunteers

After almost ten years since we first welcomed our youngest visitor to Gallery Oldham we are looking to expand our team. We are on the hunt for a team of volunteers
to support, welcome and encourage families to explore the gallery!

During term time we host a wonderful mix of events from messy play, sensory experiences, story telling, singing to early years performances for 0 - 4 year olds and their families. Due to covid we unfortunately had to stop running sessions but can't wait to bring them back.

Please be aware this is a long term opportunity with sessions happening at least twice a week during term time, we also run Saturday sessions one a month. We do NOT expect volunteers to be with us for each sessions but think it's important that families have recognisable friendly faces. If you have any questions, comments or queries please email
EvaD Ould-Okojie, Access and Interpretation Officer at evad.ouldokojie@oldham.gov.uk

What's involved?

In this role you will:

- Support families to attend events
- Welcome families in a warm and friendly way to sessions
- Create sensory, engaging and exciting spaces
- Work with the early years team to create safe environments
- Explore babies and toddlers worlds
- Support parents in times of need
- Be role models for children

Why get involved?

We think you're never too young to explore an art gallery, library and museum and our youngest visitor so far has been just eight days old.

Working as part of our Early Years team is a hugely rewarding experience and you will be supporting families and watching their little ones grow. We have sadly lost our two previous volunteers but they have moved on to wonderful full time work and study including becoming a trainee midwife!

This is the perfect opportunity if you are interested in supporting families, considering a career in early years education or gallery education or just needing a creative outlet.

How to get involved?

Step 1: Log in to your volunteer makers account
Step 2: Accept the challenge so we know you're taking part
Step 3: Wait for an email from our Access and Interpretation Officer with more details.
