Andy Pandy Time Capsule

Andy Pandy is 70! Make A Time Capsule to celebrate your families favourite childhood characters!

At the moment many of us are battling to keep children entertained. Video streaming services like Netflix are generally a blessing. But things were not always so easy…

This little chap is Andy Pandy and he celebrates his 70th birthday this year! You can find out more about him from our social history expert Bill Longshaw by clicking here:

As Bill takes a trip down memory lane and revisits the childhood characters that used to keep him entertained why not make a family time capsule to celebrate yours? Everyone in your family can choose their favourite childhood character and draw, paint or create a picture of them. Maybe even write some information about them or why you enjoyed watching or playing with them so much.

Next choose something to store them in, this could be a chocolate tin, a jar or cardboard box you are not using anymore and pack up all your pictures. Time capsules need to be hidden somewhere so have a think about where in your house or garden you could hide it for future generations to discover. Maybe it could be buried in the garden or tucked away in the loft?

We'd love to see your creations so please share them with us on our social media @galleryoldham. You can also tell us if you have thought of any unusual places to hide them!
